INSTALLATION

STINGRAY XR3, JUNIOR

STINGRAY XR3, SENIOR

WARNING: WITH ALL ENGINE INSTALLATIONS, ENSURE BOAT ENGINE IS OFF,

KILL SWITCH IS DISENGAGED, AND GEAR SHIFT IS IN NEUTRAL POSITION.

TOOLS NEEDED:

  • Phillips Head Screwdriver

INSTALLATION HARDWARE:

  • (1) Red Spacer

  • (2) Nylon Hex Nuts

  • (2) 1/4-20 x 0.75” Stainless Steel Bolts

INSTALLATION STEPS:

1. Remove the torque tab / sacrificial anode.

2. Place the Red Spacer into the open torque tab hole in the cavitation plate.

3. Slide the StingRay XRIII Hydrofoil onto the cavitation plate as far forward as possible, keeping the Red Spacer in the torque tab / sacrificial anode hole at the same time.

4. Re-install the torque tab / sacrificial anode with the StingRay XRIII Hydrofoil still in place so that the torque tab / sacrificial anode fits through the Red Spacer and clamps the hydrofoil in place.

IF THE HYDROFOIL CAN BE WIGGLED FROM SIDE TO SIDE ON THE CAVITATION PLATE AFTER INSTALLATION, PLEASE PROCEED TO STEP #6. IF THERE IS NO SIDE TO SIDE WIGGLE AFTER INSTALLATION, PLEASE PROCEED TO STEP #7:

6. Insert the (2) ¼-20 x 0.75"” Stainless Steel Bolts from the bottom up through the slots in the front of the hydrofoil using the (2) Nylon Lock Hex Nuts and a Phillips Head Screwdriver to tighten the bolts. The white side of the (2) Nylon Lock Hex Nuts should be facing upwards.

PRO TIP: There is no need to drill through the cavitation plate. These bolts are only used to eliminate the side-to-side play of the installed hydrofoil.

7. Check for propeller clearance by slowly turning the propeller by hand making sure that there is no interference between the StingRay XRIII Hydrofoil and the propeller before operating!

NOTE: Before and after each boat outing, be sure to check that the StingRay XRIII Hydrofoil still has a snug fit on the cavitation plate. It may be necessary to re-tighten the torque tab / sacrificial anode if the hydrofoil does not have a snug fit.

Any surface “flow marks” around holes that appear to be cracks are not cracks, but they are a normal part of the molding process and do not affect the part strength or performance.
